Industrial Electrical Maintenance / Signalling Systems / Points Machines / Control Systems / Communications Systems
Midland Metro Limited is looking for an Infrastructure Electrical & Mechanical Technician to join our Signalling and Telecommunications team.
This role is suited to someone with an industrial electrical maintenance or control systems background who is confident in the inspection, testing, fault-finding, maintenance and repair of electrical and control-based systems within an operational or safety-critical environment.
You will maintain MML’s signalling and telecommunications infrastructure, including points machines, signalling control circuits, protection logic, detection systems, CCTV, passenger communication systems, radio systems, fibre network interfaces and associated electrical equipment.
Previous tramway or railway signalling experience is beneficial but not essential. We welcome candidates with experience in industrial electrical maintenance and recognise transferable skills from automation, control systems, machinery controls, process plant, manufacturing, utilities or similar environments.
This is not a purely fibre-based role. Fibre knowledge is useful, but the main requirement is strong electrical fault-finding ability, practical mechanical aptitude and the capability to develop specialist competence in tramway signalling systems, points machines and associated control equipment.
You will carry out planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose faults, complete repairs, support testing and commissioning activities, and ensure accurate records are maintained within the asset management system. The role also forms part of the infrastructure on-call arrangements, supporting emergency response, service-affecting failures and unplanned out-of-hours repairs where required.
We are looking for someone with:
Desirable experience:
This is a varied role where your industrial electrical and control systems experience will be applied to a specialist tramway environment, with opportunities to develop competence in signalling systems, points machines, telecommunications and safety-critical maintenance.
