Location: Midland Metro Ltd, Wednesbury Depot, Potters Lane, WS10 0AR
Salary: £29,260 per annum + Benefits!
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Core Hours: 39hrs, Monday-Thursday: 07:00-15:00, Friday: 07:00-14:00

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Access Planner to assist with all infrastructure system access planning activities. This role will involve reviewing Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS), generating Permits to Work (PTWs), and supporting the coordination of possessions.

Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Access Planner:

  • Permit-to-Work (PTW) Management: Review RAMS and generate PTWs for both internal and external staff, ensuring safety protocols are followed. Assist with the coordination of the PTW system for contractors and internal teams.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all work tasks comply with established safety procedures, industry standards, and MML protocols. Attend site visits to support contractors and stakeholders with safe working practices.
  • Infrastructure Planning: Assist the Infrastructure Department with resource planning for possessions, permits, and rectification works. Coordinate contractor activities for the successful delivery of projects.
  • System Management: Support the update and maintenance of the Asset Management Information System (AMIS) and SharePoint, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Documentation: Complete all required paperwork promptly, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company systems and standards.

Learning & Development:

As an Assistant Access Planner, you will have opportunities for continued training and development, which includes:

  • Competent Person Substation course
  • MML Authorised Persons Training
  • IOSH
  • Personal Track Safety

Health & Safety:

You will be responsible for adhering to health and safety instructions, wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and reporting accidents or hazards promptly to management.

Skills & Experience Required:

Essential:

  • A strong knowledge of safe systems of work (SSOW) requirements, including the ability to assess risks, implement control measures, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both within and outside of the company
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong attention to detail.

Desirable:

  • Engineering-related NVQ Level 2 qualification or higher
  • IOSH certification
